#TCRNo9

Welcome to the ninth edition of the Transcontinental Race. Starting once again on Flandrien cobbles, this year’s route guides our intrepid, self-supported riders south and east; across Alpine passes, through sheer gorges and along ancient roads, finally coming to rest on the edge of Europe where the warm waters of the Aegean Sea await to soothe the tired minds and aching muscles of the finishers of TCRNo9.

Those who come looking for adventure will find it! We welcome all riders intending to race in the spirit of camaraderie, equal opportunity and self-reliance. This Race offers the chance to pit mind, body and spirit against thousands of miles of Europe’s most beautiful, remote, inspiring, and challenging roads and tracks.

At the fulcrum of the Race, where a critical moment is enough to upset the finest balance between the heights of elation and the depths of despair, riders will discover the strength of their resolve and test the limits of their self-belief. As always, this Race rewards the most prepared; the strongest legs will only prevail in the presence of the sharpest wit.

About the Race

The Transcontinental Race is the definitive self-supported bicycle race across Europe. At the sharp end it is a beautifully hard bicycle race, simple in design but complex in execution. Factors of self reliance, logistics, navigation and judgement burden racers’ minds as well as their physiques. The strongest excel and redefine what we think possible, while many experienced riders target only a finish.

The Transcontinental is a single stage race in which the clock never stops. Riders plan, research and navigate their own course and choose when and where to rest. They will take only what they can carry and consume only what they can find. Four mandatory control points guide their route and ensure a healthy amount of climbing to reach some of cycling’s most beautiful and historic monuments. Each year our riders cover around 4000 km to reach the finish line.
